Abstract

The designing, implementation and use of mechanized NDT-examinations for the controlling the safe service life of heavy gun tubes are discussed in the paper. The smooth bore mortar tube is inspected by using mechanized eddy current testing (ET). The combination of mechanized ultrasonic techniques from outside surface (UT, ToFD) in immersion is recom­men­ded for volume and bore inspection of rifled cannon tube.
